Seacest made his big debut during Monday morning's show, almost a year after former co-host Michael Strahan left the program last May for a position at Good Morning America. A menagerie of guest co-hosts have since filled in, with Anderson Cooper, Andy Cohen, Rob Lowe, Fred Savage and Jerry O'Connell considered early front-runners for the full-time gig.

Ripa's pals, Cohen and Cooper, quickly took to Twitter to congratulate Seacrest on the job.

"Mazel @RyanSeacrest!! #LiveKellyRyan," Cohen wrote, while Cooper said he "can't wait to watch" Seacrest hang out with "the best person I know, @KellyRipa every day!"

Pennsylvania high school teacher Richard Curtis, who co-hosted the show a couple times after winning a contest, also gave a shout-out to Seacrest, while teasing that he's "available to fill in" during his school's summer break.

During an interview with ET shortly after sharing the news on Monday, Ripa revealed that she and Seacrest "first talked" about him joining the show "almost a decade ago."

"You (Ryan) were so ensconced with your job and living in L.A. We've always enjoyed working together. That's never been a question -- just [needed to be] on the same coast at the same time," she said.
