Dennis Quaid Reveals Roping Skills on 'Vegas' Set

Dennis Quaid has played a variety of movie roles throughout his distinguished career, but when he recently switched to television he snagged a role very close to his own Texas roots. And as he reveals to ET's Brooke Anderson, his extensive horsemanship and roping skills came in handy during the latest episode of his crime drama Vegas.

"I directed a movie back in the '90s which had calf roping in it, and I got into it quite a bit back then," Quaid told Anderson during a recent set visit to the show, in which the actor portrays the real-life former Sheriff of Las Vegas, Ralph Lamb.

This time Quaid -- who says he does almost all of his own stunts -- showcases his roping skills while chasing a steer down a Las Vegas street during the next episode of Vegas -- airing at a special time tomorrow night at 8 o'clock on CBS.

In the series, Lamb (Quaid) battles notorious gangster Vincent Savino (Michael Chiklis), who is plotting a Las Vegas takeover. Chiklis -- who also directs episodes of the show -- told Anderson he feels lucky to be able to work with Quaid and the other actors, who have created a great working environment. "We have fun and we're really enjoying each other's company. There's just a natural chemistry with each other, and that you can't pay for."
