Ryan Gosling Hits 2024 Oscars Red Carpet With Sister Mandi After Eva Mendes Posts Pics Backstage

The notoriously private couple have not walked a red carpet together since 2012.

Ken has arrived! While many thought he might make a rare red carpet appearance with his wife, Eva Mendes, Ryan Gosling had another date on the 96th annual Academy Awards red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

The 43-year-old Barbie star looked dapper in his all-black ensemble that he paired with a small necklace and Barbie-inspired. pink socks!

And while Eva wasn't by his side, Ryan's sister, Mandi Gosling, was on the red carpet with him. His sibling, who has attended several awards shows with her famous bro, looked fabulous in a hounds tooth, floor-length gown.

Ahead of hitting the red carpet, Ryan's wife posted some photos backstage from the Oscars, presumably from rehearsals on Saturday.

"Siempre con mi hombre," Eva, 50, wrote over a photo from the awards show location. She also shared a live photo of the moment, which was posted to her Instagram grid, translating the message into English for her six million followers, writing, "always with my man."

Eva and Ryan haven't walked a red carpet together since they promoted their film, The Place Beyond the Pines, at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. In April 2023, Mendes explained in an Instagram comment to a fan why she and Gosling don't attend public events together.

"We don’t do those things together. Like these photos I’ve been posting, Im only comfortable posting because it’s already out there. ♥️," she wrote. "Oh wait -for those who may catch me in a 'lie' -- we only were on the red carpet together once when promoting this film 🖤."

Gosling and Mendes met on the set of the film and have been together ever since. They share daughters Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7.

It's a big night for Gosling, who is nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role as Ken in the blockbuster Barbie movie. He is also set to perform the song "I'm Just Ken" from the film and to present during the annual awards show. Gosling's nomination, however, was somewhat controversial as his co-star, Margot Robbie did not receive a nod for her role as Barbie, nor did filmmaker Greta Gerwig in the Best Director category.

"I am extremely honored to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films," Gosling said in a statement to ET in January. "And I never thought I'd being saying this, but I'm also incredibly honored and proud that it's for portraying a plastic doll named Ken."

Gosling also acknowledged the controversy, adding, "But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film. No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius. To say that I'm disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement."

Gosling and Robbie's co-star, America Ferrera, also received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role as Gloria in the film.

Gosling previously earned Best Actor nods in 2006 and 2016 for Half Nelson and La La Land, respectively.
