Rebecca Romijn Breaks Her Silence on John Stamos Memoir, Says She Was 'Blindsided' (Exclusive)

John Stamos was married to Rebecca Romijn before her marriage to Jerry O'Connell.

Rebecca Romijn is opening up about her ex-husband, John Stamos', October memoir, If You Would Have Told Me.

The 51-year-old actress spoke with ET’s Deidre Behar at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, and broke her silence on Stamos' book, expressing that she was "blindsided" by its content.

"I was very surprised by all of that, incredibly shocked actually," she admitted to ET. "I was sort of blindsided by it. But you know, I don't really want to help him sell his books based on those headlines. So that's all I really want to say about it."

In the memoir, Stamos accuses Romijn of infidelity, describing the emotional turmoil of betrayal. While promoting the book, Stamos openly spoke about his challenging feelings toward Romijn during their divorce, confessing to Howard Stern that he felt "emasculated" as her career soared while his struggled.

The couple, who tied the knot in 1998 after meeting in 1994, parted ways in 2004. Despite the revelations in Stamos' memoir, Romijn maintained her silence, until now.

However, Romijn’s husband, Jerry O’Connell, made it clear in November that he had not read Stamos' memoir and had no plans to do so. Speaking on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM radio show, he stated, "There was an interest in my household, but it’s so funny, after hearing his interview beginning to end on The Howard Stern Show, any interest of reading the book went away."

Romijn and O’Connell got married in 2007, while Stamos found love again with Caitlin McHugh, tying the knot in February 2018 and welcoming a son named Billy two months later.

Romijn, who stars in Paramount+'s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, also discussed the surprising recognition the series received at the Critics Choice Awards.

"The critics love it, and it was a real shocker to us because the Star Trek franchise is typically overlooked by these types of awards events" she shared. "The fact that we somehow shone through really means the world to us."

During the interview, the actress also touched on Barbie's America Ferrera, her former Ugly Betty co-star, accepting the SeeHer Award at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. Romijn expressed the hope for a reunion, saying, "I hope I get to see her somewhere around here and give her a big smooch. I'm so proud of her."

When asked about her beauty routine, Romijn shared three key practices, including "a lot of doggy love and hiking," emphasizing the importance of hydration and vitamins, and keeping things light and silly.
