The Kansas City Chiefs star isn't looking forward to missing out on Christmas morning with his kids.

The game must go on -- even if it means being away from family and friends.

While Patrick Mahomes is looking forward to leading his fellow Kansas City Chiefs in a game against the Las Vegas Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day, it's the logistics of having to be away on Christmas Eve that have him bummed out.

Speaking with Pro Football Talk in recent interview, Mahomes explained that, on Christmas Day, "Everybody’s gonna be just opening presents and getting the food in them, and then they’re going to be the happiest they possibly can be, and they’re gonna turn on and see the Kansas City Chiefs playing."

"So I’m excited about that," he said of his fans, explaining that he's just disappointed that he'll have to spend the night before in a hotel with the team, away from his wife, Brittany Mahomes, and their two young children -- 2-year-old daughter Skye and 1-year-old son Patrick "Bronze."

"I'm a little disappointed I’m going to miss Christmas Eve with my kids and Christmas morning and miss Santa coming," Mahomes shared.

Kickoff for the match between the Chiefs and the Raiders is set for 1 p.m. ET on Monday, and Mahomes will be joining his family after the game.

"I'll be able to spend the evening with them and open presents with them then," Mahomes explained. "I'm excited for that."

Meanwhile, Mahomes' teammate, Travis Kelce, also addressed having to play on Christmas Day, while speaking with People earlier this month.

"It will be a fun one," Kelce shared. "It's always a luxury playing for Kansas City -- home and away."

"My brother sent me a text and said he’s going to be celebrating afterwards," Kelce said of his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce -- who also has a Christmas Day game -- confirming that he also plans to celebrate post-game, or the next day.

The football star did not directly address whether or not he and girlfriend Taylor Swift would be spending the holiday together or not. However, a source told ET last month that "the couple is planning to spend more time together" throughout December and January.

"Taylor and Travis are on the same page and have a lot in common," the source added. "Both are extremely close to their families and share morals and views on a lot of things."
