In honor of the day, Entourage's Adrian Grenier joined Pretty Little Liars' Keegan Allen at the International Bird Rescue Center on Thursday, October 2. The center's volunteers rehabilitate injured birds after oil spills.

As part of Dawn's celebration of World Animal Day, the actors worked to release a Califonia Brown Pelican back into the wild in San Pedro, California.

According to the International Bird Rescue website, "This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Brown Pelican's removal from the endangered species list. But the future of this iconic coastal species, and a common patitent at the International Bird Rescue's wildlife centers is anything but clear."

In a video on the web site, Adrian calls the volunteer experience "magical," but birds are not the only animals that the star has been drawn to.

Known for his documentary work, Grenier is producing a movie about another animal, the whale. Set for 2015, the documentary called 52 is about a search for the loneliest whale on the planet.
