Natasha Lyonne and Fred Armisen are going their separate ways after eight years together. Lyonne confirmed the split to The Hollywood Reporter while discussing the highly anticipated return of her Netflix series, Russian Doll.

Their relationship was brought up when the 43-year-old New York native was asked if she's currently living in Los Angeles.

"I'm not. I had been there living with Fred [Armisen] and during COVID," Lyonne revealed.

"I honestly think we broke up because I wanted a swimming pool," she continued. "We love each other just about as much as two people can love each other and we're still talking all the time, but Freddy doesn't like a swimming pool. It might seem like a mundane reason for a breakup, but during that pandemic, you've got to get your laps -- I'm like Burt Lancaster in The Swimmer."

Lyonne still got her pool however, telling THR that while she's not living in L.A. full time, she did in fact purchase a home with a pool in the Los Angeles area.

"So that's the real scandal," the Orange Is the New Black alum jokingly added. "I guess I finally am an actual bicoastal."

ET has reached out to the couple's reps for comment.

Lyonne and Armisen were first linked in 2014 when they were spotted out together at several after-parties following the 66th annual Emmy Awards.

In a 2019 Glamour profile, Lyonne revealed that Armisen's former Saturday Night Live colleague, Maya Rudolph, introduced the pair, during what she called her "Grey Gardens" phase.

"I was going through a rocky road, as we know," she recalled before telling the magazine that Armisen and Rudolph stopped by her apartment to find her chain-smoking, wearing only a silk robe and sunglasses. "I pulled out a copy of [Legs McNeil’s] Please Kill Me, autographed it, and was like, 'Welcome, kid. Fred -- what a name. Happy birthday. Enjoy the book.' He still has it."

Armisen, who admitted to being "a terrible husband" to ex-wife Elisabeth Moss from 2009 to 2011, told Vulture in 2016, that he was trying to be "less selfish" in his relationship with Lyonne.

"Everything is a process to make your life better -- everything," Armisen said at the time. "I’m trying to be less selfish. I want to give more than I’m used to giving."

The Portlandia actor was also married to singer Sally Timms from 1998 to 2004.

While the former couple had been splitting up their time between New York and L.A. during the pandemic, Lyonne and Armisen were last seen together at the 2020 Golden Globes.
