Version of Themselves

James Franco joins Seth Rogen, Danny McBride and a slew of other stars in the film This Is the End, and they're all playing version of themselves. In anticipation of the film's June 12, 2013 release, and the fact that the trailer for Robin Wright's movie The Congress was released this week in which she too stars as herself, here's a top 10 list celebrities who've portrayed themselves on screen.

Robin Wright

In this partially animated movie called The Congress, Robin Wright plays a version of herself who accepts one last job, though the consequences of her decision affect her in ways she didn't consider. Set to hit theaters July 3, 2013, check out the bizarre movie trailer HERE.

James Van Der Beek

In the former TV show Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, James Van Der Beek played the famous neighbor of Chole (Krysten Ritter) and June (June Colburn).

Bob Barker

"The price is wrong!" Renowned Price Is Right host Bob Barker got into quite the tussle with Adam Sandler's hockey-turned-golf player character in the 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore.

Neil Patrick Harris

Since 2004, Neil Patrick Harris has been playing a sleazier, heterosexual version of himself on the Harold & Kumar comedies.

Bill Murray

In the 2009 comedic thriller Zombieland, Bill Murray poses as the zombie version of himself to avoid being attacked and eaten.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

"I'm sorry, son, but you must have me confused with someone else. My name is Roger Murdock. I'm the co-pilot." In the 1980 comedy Airplane!, basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar attempts to fly under radar as an airline co-pilot.

John Malkovich

In the trippy 1999 film Being John Malkovich, a puppeteer (John Cusack) discovers a portal that leads literally into the head of the movie star, John Malkovich.

Julia Roberts

In the 2004 sequel Ocean's 12, Julia Roberts plays her character Tess Ocean's famous lookalike, herself.

James Franco

James Franco recently told GQ magazine of playing himself in the new apocalyptic comedy This Is the End, "James Franco character was --I guess the only way to describe it is he was a lot douchier than the version that we came up with. I was the materialistic guy. They were really playing up the Gucci-modeling aspect of my life."
