Affleck revealed to ET that he still finds himself in awe of his peers, as most of them are artists that he's looked up to for some time.

"[At the Directors Guild Awards] they let all the nominees give speeches," Affleck said before the ceremony. "I wrote, like, 10 different versions (of my speech). They all seemed bad to me. Steven Spielberg's going to give a speech, and then I have to give one. I have to live up to that. It's very intimidating."

Affleck's fellow nominees included Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty), Tom Hooper (Les Miserables), Ang Lee (Life of Pi) and Steven Spielberg (Lincoln).

"DGA members have chosen an incredibly rich and varied group of filmmakers to nominate for this year's Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film Award. These directors represent the highest standard of filmmaking, and their films are a testament to artistic achievement, innovative storytelling and the passion that filmmakers share with their audiences," said Directors Guild of America President Taylor Hackford. "Being nominated by their peers is what makes this award particularly meaningful for directors, and I congratulate all of the nominees for their outstanding work."

Tune in to see if Affleck can keep his win streak going when the Academy Awards air on ABC February 24 at 7 pm ET/ 4 pm PT.
