The cast of Squid Game has some ideas for season 2.
Lee Jung-jae, HoYeon Jung, Park Hae-soo, Kim Joo-ryeong, and Anupam Tripathi spoke to ET's Nischelle Turner at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards Sunday where they shared what they plan to bring back some of the dead characters from season 1 for the Netflix series' second season.
"There are a lot, Lee Jung has so good ideas," HoYeon shared. "So, my idea is that maybe the masked men took all them and made sure they came back to life," Lee's translator explained.
The show is nominated for several awards including Ensemble in a Drama Series and Stunt Ensemble in a TV series, with Lee and HoYeun scoring individual nominations. As far as what it means be nominated, Lee told ET it's a "huge honor."
"It's truly such an honor," Lee gushed. "I never imagined that this day would come, and I cannot believe that I am going to be along with all of the stars that I saw on screen, and I was just in awe of."
"It is such an honor. It's just an indescribable feeling," HoYeon added. "I can't even. I don't know. I really don't know. I couldn't digest it."
As far as who she's excited to see tonight, HoYeon told ET she's keep an eye out for Reese Witherspoon.
The cast looked dapper as ever outside of their Squid Game uniforms, with Lee rocking a navy-blue tuxedo, HoYeon in a sparkling, black embellished gown by Louis Vuitton, Park in a traditional tux, Kim in a strapless pink gown with ombré details and Anupam also going for navy blue, pairing his suit with a white shirt and white bowtie.

The show was officially renewed in January, following Netflix crowning the international phenomenon its biggest and most popular original series ever. The streamer said last fall that in the first 28 days of release since its Sept. 17 debut, it had reached 111 million fans. In November, Netflix shared that Squid Game had pulled in 1.65 billion hours of viewing in its first four weeks, over twice the amount for its No. 2 show, Shonda Rhimes' Regency drama Bridgerton.
At a November event celebrating Squid Game's success, Hwang indicated that he was already working on a plan for a sophomore season.
"Season 2, I'm in the middle of brainstorming. Yeah, I mean after this huge success, we've got to do something about season 2," creator Hwang Dong-hyuk shared with ET's Leanne Aguilera at the time, acknowledging that he's not sure "how and when it will come out." "So, it will come out. I believe it will come out."
"Season 2, it's all cooking in his brain right here," Lee, who walked the carpet with Hwang, told ET. "So there's high expectations for the second season. Because of such huge success for season 1, I feel like a lot of expectations have been built up, so it's going to be tough to meet them. But again, it's all in his head right here."
The 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards air live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Stay tuned to ETonline.com for complete coverage of the 2022 awards season.
